As a homeschool baseball team, the Indianapolis Kings team does not have a practice facility to call its own, nor do we have a home field. For this reason, we play many away games and designate a portion of the yearly player fees to pay in-full or share umpire fees with our opponents.
Over the years, the Kings has transitioned to many different practice facilities. In our early years, we were blessed to be able to build relationships with many people and utilized Warren Central High School's gymnasium, Warren Little League facilities, as well as business facilities such as Dream Big (currently The Yard Sports Complex) and 84 Sports in Greenfield, Indiana. In more recent years, the Kings' board had committed to devote the majority of its funding to an indoor practice facility, SportZone.
The 2023 season had us once again utilizing 84 Sports in Greenfield as well as a new facility in Avon called RBI Factory. We utilized these facilities for fundamental skills practice drills, available pitching mounds, and batting cages for our January through mid-March practices. Both are workable facilities for our junior high and high school teams. In 2024 we added D-Bat Zionsville to the list of utilized facilities.
Once the weather warms and we are able to get outdoors for field practice, we have been able to practice outdoors at the City of Lawrence's youth sports facility and have utilized the Grand Park Sports Complex for several of our seasonal activities. We also have access to Forest Park in Noblesville, Indiana, and Castleview Church.
If you, or someone you know, owns or has access to an indoor and/or outdoor facility that might aid our organization, we would love to have the opportunity to discuss future field possibilities. Please consider using the contact email to get in touch with our athletic director.
